My name is Sarah Catherall. I stumbled on photography quite by accident in 1989 while I was a student at Yarra Valley Anglican School. This discovery has allowed me to see the world in quite a unique and wonderful way.
It has taken me on a journey that has been filled with a special kind of excitement and anticipation. It has allowed me to explore small and beautiful pockets of life, which are often over looked or taken for granted. It has allowed me to find beauty in the most unusual and the most mundane places.
Photography has allowed me to see my world in a way that excites me and fills me with wonder; it reminds me that life can be filled with a special kind of enchantment or magic if you take the time to see it and explore it.
I completed my degree in Fine Art (Photography) at The Victorian College of the Arts. While I was studying at the VCA I was given the opportunity to go to New York for a semester and study at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Photography has turned experiences like this from dream, to reality.
I am convinced that the world I live in today is a much more beautiful place because of Photography. In many ways, I feel photography has unlocked a window; the light from which fills my world with a special kind of charm and beauty. This is something that I have been blessed with and something I will be eternally grateful for.
