The Sacred Circle

The paintings in this series explore the circle as both a geometric and spiritual concept. They are inspired by my feelings and by my responses to music and community. Rich, vibrant colour have always been a part of my paintings, but this series is a little different. Choosing to use a more abstract format allowed me to explore colour and texture more freely than in my usual figurative style. My responses come to me in images and a visual medium feels a more complete expression than words.

I live in the beautiful, creative environment that is "The Hills". Each day I count my blessings for the natural beauty, the sense of community and enriching friendships that have become a part of my life here in the hills. I am the mother of two children, a boy and a girl, 7 and 11.

I studied Fine Art at Phillip Institute of Technology, completing my degree in 1989. In 1991 I completed my Diploma of Education at Melbourne University.

Creativity, in one form or another, is my oxygen, without it I feel I am suffocating. I love every aspect of the painting process, the feeling of brushing the paint onto the canvas and removing paint to reveal textures, but most of all colour. I delight in pure colours, they make my heart sing.

In addition to painting , I also work in wet felt and dry needle felted sculptures.

I sell these through Epoche, 77 Monbulk Road Kallista 9755 1952 (behind the biodynamic market). I hope you enjoy my exhibition and please don't forget to write in the viewer comments book upstairs.

Blessings,

- Wendy
